Friendship 7, released by Williams in 1962, was directly inspired by one of America's most significant space achievements - John Glenn's historic Mercury orbital flight aboard the Friendship 7 spacecraft. This capitalized on the immense public interest in the Space Race and the widespread admiration for Glenn as the first American to orbit Earth.
