Support Our WorkDavy Jones was a preflipper electro-mechanical pinball machine released by Stoner Manufacturing Co. in 1939. The backglass art centered on the underwater theme of Davy Jones' Locker and the broader cultural fascination with nautical themes. The playfield was done in Art Deco sytling with beautiful pinstriping in simple numbers and bright colors. The escapist art took players to a fantastic undersea realm where one could crack open a safe and reap the rewards of a lost treasure. As games of this era were tied to cash or prizes given for high scores the artwork's main duty was to entice one to try their luck in a time when jobs were scarce and money was tight. It doubled as a way to take them on a fantasy trip to get away from the drudgery of the great depression of the '30s.
