Machine Description
Cover Girl, released by D. Gottlieb & Co. in 1962, represents a classic example of the glamour and fashion-themed pinball machines that were popular during the 1960s. The machine captured the zeitgeist of the era when fashion magazines and modeling were becoming increasingly influential in popular culture. The playfield design featured elegant artwork depicting fashionable women in the style of contemporary magazine covers, reflecting the aesthetic of publications like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Unfortunately, the fashion sense of artist Roy Parker was about 20 years behind the times. However this didn't affect the popularity of the games as the men dropping coins into them did not have a keen fashion sense either. They were there to play the game and any representation of a women with a smile on their face played into their fantasy and let them enjoy the escapism offered by Gottlieb's amazing engineering that kept you trying to get that one last target to win a game.
