Machine Description
Released by Williams Manufacturing Corporation in December 1967, Blast Off captured the intense public fascination with the space race during the height of NASA's Apollo program. This perfectly-timed release came as America was racing to fulfill President Kennedy's promise of reaching the Moon, making it a significant piece of space-age pop culture.
The machine featured distinctive space-themed artwork including rockets, astronauts, and launch pad that reflected the optimistic futurism of the 1960s. As an electro-mechanical pinball machine, it utilized the technology of its era with mechanical score reels, chimes, and bells. Blast Off was the Add A Ball version of Apollo.
